So we just recently opened up Voting and Replies on Trampt to everyone who is a member. Up until now the only way that you could do either of those things was earning Reputation by adding/editing items in the library. We initially set this high barrier to entry because we were worried about controlling spam during the building of other features, most important being Moderator controls.
So the reason for this post is to set some basic guidelines for using replies/conversations to Buy/Sell/Trade with other members.
Please Don't try to Buy & Sell inside the library items
I know this is probably the best place for you to put your desire to buy or sell that particular item, but we're trying to think of the long-term goals of Trampt and the sanity of other members. Consider a member going through and posting "I'm looking for this item please email me" or "I'm selling this item please email me" on 50 items in a row. As another member tries to go through and see what people are talking about, each click is just the same thing over and over again. This would get really frustrating when members would like to just talk about the item or the artist/manufacturer who made it.
If anyone does this their post will be immediately removed by a Moderator and you will be sent a link to this post. If you received that link and are reading his now, please stop trying to Buy/Sell inside the library items for the reason listed above. Blatant offenders will have their accounts suspended.
So how do I use Conversations to Buy/Sell/Trade?
The correct way to Buy/Sell/Trade is to Start a Conversation, but to do this will require a Reputation of 50 (it will be lowered to 10 later tonight). This can be done by adding/editing items in the library, updating portfolios, or you can simply reply to existing conversations earning 1 Reputation point for each reply.
Once you have the ability to start a new Conversation please use one or combination of the following tags so it shows up in the correct place:
Please consolidate your listings. The site will index the keywords you use in the body, so there is no need to jam the Conversation title with keywords. If you would like your conversation to show up in associated portfolios you can use the "Tag Portfolio" button to tag an Artist, Platform, Manufacturer, etc.
Artists selling items
If you have something new that you've created and you want to sell please use the For Sale tag as well as the New Release tag. If you're selling older items please refrain from using the New Release tag. Artists selling their own items can provide links to their stores to make the transaction process easier with other members.
No auctions, raffles, pre-sales, or 'taking offers' threads
Something that requires payments or bids without the guarantee of a sale is forbidden. Don't sell items you don't have in hand, or troll members to 'bid' on your items. Just put a sales price with anything you want to sell. It just makes things easier for everyone.
Good Reputation on the site doesn't mean they're 100% trustworthy
The Reputation piece of Trampt is not a reflection of a member Buying, Selling, or Trading with other members. Part of the upcoming Marketplace will deal with that, but for now use the same precautions when transacting that you would use on other forums.
Hopefully this will be a nice stop-gap until the Marketplace launches. Please be nice to everyone and if there are any problems please email admin@trampt.com

I can't wait to see the how the marketplace will look and the features that it will have. I hope its ok to ask if there is any estimate as to when we will see it?

I can't wait for the Marketplace to go live - I'm interested to see how it works out for those of us who are using currency other than the US$. I'm assuming we'll need to convert all our 'price paid/selling for' info to US$?
When I sold my Dunny doubles online in the past, unless they were super rare they always sold at a loss - where I live, on average they retail for about £7.99 which is $12/$13 and I believe they're about $9 in the US(?). It's not a big deal as I only wanted to try and cover the cost of my next blindbox! However when you add packaging/intl.shipping costs on top of that, sometimes it becomes more hassle than it's worth.
Anyway. What I'm really trying to get at is that this is why I love that there is also the Trade element to the Marketplace - for me this is far more exciting and it's a great alternative :D

keegan a Yeah, since it's a unique feature to the site I really hope it catches on too. I hate keeping track of money and would rather just mail figures back and forth. :) about 11 years ago
Easily_Amused I just wish you would set it up so that we can change the currency. I buy prints from European Bob who charges 39.99 British Pound as his release price, and I'm sure others would like to record when they purchase something in their home currency. about 11 years ago
ToyCultureMagazine The trade section will definitely be my favorite. It can be hard getting ahold of certain figures unless someone sees something you have that they may want ;) about 11 years ago
I like to let people know where to find interesting stuff when I come across it (EX: Alex Pardee SDCC 2012 figues). should I start a conversation for things I've found then instead of leaving a comment on the items library page? Also, whenever, I come across sales I like to share with a conversation, which tags should I use?
Thanks!
Jason

keegan a The above rules were more for members selling to members, rather than members letting others know about sale, deals, releases that are coming up. over 11 years ago
Easily_Amused Cool! I set up a conversation for my Buy/sale, check it and let me know if it's good. over 11 years ago

I am not a coder or pretend to be. But is it hard to maybe allow the wanted and dealing buttons go to the list of people who have cliced those buttons on those figurines? Maybe that would be a bandaid fix for the marketplace.
Mmm example, 102 people clicked "dealing it" for lets say... Black Night Raku, then if you clicked that button you can see a list of the 102 people that are dealing it, so you can decide to PM them like on the kr forums?
Alternative example if 52 people wanted a Andrew Bell Mahalaka, then you click that button and you see a list of who wants to buy it.

Easily_Amused I'd recommend Starting a conversation and showing Pics of your work, along with putting up an artist portfolio, and entering your creatrions into the library. about 11 years ago

I realize this is one of those "yes we are working on it" type responses I get the to questions I am about to ask, but figured I'd ask to see if there were any UI hooks that maybe I hadn't seen.
I was wondering if there was a way to find the collection or contact the collector when an item I am looking for says "X people dealing"? Since ultimately I can only see the items I am dealing, and will assume that the collection that has pieces that are being dealt doesn't check Trampt on a regular basis.

keegan a I should create a news post tomorrow with future screenshots and describe functionality to get some more feedback. :) over 10 years ago
benpierce25 v right now it is just a couple simpsons related Tim Doyle prints. Not sure that I did it correctly, but just ended up including the specific hyperlinks since I didn't find a way to directly encapsulate the pieces to the LTB post. over 10 years ago
So it seems for the time being we can sell items using conversations through said item? Just want to make sure before i get banned for doing that lol. So confusing with marketplace offline yet there is an option for dealing an item you can click. I think this site is nice but its painful to know we are only being teased with whats available at the moment
