In April 2011, there was a three-person group exhibition called Monsters & Misfits held at the Kusakabe Folk Museum in Takayama, Japan. The show's opening was on the eve of the Takayama Spring Festival, a massive event that draws roughly 200,000 tourists to the city every year. And the works of Kathie Olivas, Brandt Peters, and Chris Ryniak were there; their Monsters & Misfits show being a disaster relief fundraiser that featured exclusive Tomenosuke-syoten debuts and a bevy of custom figure art by the artists.
In fact, several of the designs these artists became known for in 2011 premiered as customs at this event … including the "Octopus Girl" version of Elizabeth. If that wasn't enough, they're doing it again. Not only will Monsters & Misftis II feature new works by the original artists but this time they are adding Amanda Louise Spayd and Doktor A to the roster. Once again set to open on April 13th, the day before the Takayama Spring Festival, the Tomenosuke-syoten hosted show will return to the Kusakabe Folk Museum. While the exact end date of the show hasn't been officially announced, it seems likely it will be April 30th.
