Nice day trip to NYC for shows, stores and of course foodCrazy 4 Cult, Kidrobot NY, Myplasticheart & Toy Tokyo
We had a busy week in Tramptland. One of the rare treats we got last week was a kid-free day trip to New York for Gallery 1988's Crazy 4 Cult NYC, and crazy is exactly what it was. Walking the city all day hitting up a variety of toy shops like Kidrobot, Myplasticheart, and Toy Tokyo we picked up some Goon Squad, Labbit - Deadly Sins, and Dunny - 2012. Then we got in the line that wrapped around the block in the Meatpacking District about 15 minutes before the show opened. Then we waited. The line was long and the crowed was excited. I heard from one of the people working the event that some people had gotten in line at 10pm the night before!
Seemed like a real waste since it only took about half an hour for us to get in the building - but then we got in line, again. We had started getting chummy with the other people in line, which was a good choice, because we continued to wait in line until 9pm (the time the reception was scheduled to end). We got three prints by Clark Off, Clinton Reno and Two Arms Inc. that we're thrilled about, but when we checked online the next day, nearly all the art was still available. So was it worth standing in line for over 3 hours? What can I say, I'll do anything for art.
