Featuring: VanBeater, Leecifer, Lora Zombie, and Travis Louie

Some amazing featured artists this week, usually guys and girls you know well but every once in a while we hope you find some new stuff by artists you don't know yet. Each week we pick some artists we like who also happen to have some stuff going on this week that we think you should know about. Whether it's a new release, upcoming show, or just some cool stuff they're recently made. Anyway, on to our featured artists

Featured for Designer Toys: VanBeater

Crappycat is a staple in any toy collection. With his eyepatch, business casual getup, and his dwindling six-pack, he's not unlike how I imagine his creator. Since the release of his Crappy Cat mini-series, VanBeater has been dropping a variety of two figure sets. Now he wants you to know that he's seen your internet and he'll raise you six meme-faced FlunkMonkeys. With an edition size of just 125, they are available now for the next 48 hours exclusively at crappycat.com. To know what else is upcoming in the CrappyCat universe, be sure to follow VanBeater on twitter at @crappycat or like him on facebook.

Featured for Custom Toys: Leecifer

Leecifer embodies the entire lowbrow movement in his trunk-legged little flames, but as much as we adore his Honoo, his customs are really where it's at. They're messy, creepy, and evocative of street-art. It's not surprising since Leecifer draws his inspiration from tattoos, graffiti, hotrods, and kaiju. Although I'm still confused how he keeps getting his hands on so many Bunnyvans to customize when it took me forever to track one down. :) My favorite piece of his, hands down, is the badass custom Maleficent he made for Tales, on display last month at Dragatomi. His most recent piece "Hamburger!??" for Giant Robot Biennale 3 is on display now. The show opened on September 23rd and will be up at the Japanese American National Museum until January 20th. Keep track of what Leecifer is doing by following him on twitter @leecifer or visiting his site leecifer.com.

Featured for Art Prints: Lora Zombie

I'm having a hard time writing about our print artist this week, Lora Zombie. Her work is stunning, complicated, colorful and extremely well crafted, but I know little else about her. She hails from Russia, she's cute as a bug on all her Facebook photos, and she's amassed and incredible online following. Her two latest prints, Wonder Wash and Space Window were released by Eyes on Walls on September 14th. She also has a show titles Blue Bird Lobotomy, coming up on November 8th in NYC. Look for me gushing a lot more over her gorgeous work in the near future. Follow Lora on twitter @lorazombie or check out more of her work at lorazombie.com.

Featured for Original Art: Travis Louie

Travis Louie looked nothing like I imagined him! I ran into him while waiting in line to get into Crazy 4 Cult NYC, and he didn't have a monocle, or a bowler cap, or even a steam-punk earring. Travis is a totally normal dude, who paints the most incredible, out-of-this-world portraits I've ever seen. Moreover, while you're checking out these badass paintings, take a gander at the descriptions. I can't even put into words how much I love his work, maybe when I grow up I'll be able to afford one. His recent group show 'Le Carnaval des Spectres' with the Circus Posterus crew opened last week at Artoyz Gallery in Paris. Not sure if the rest of the CP gang is rubbing off on him, but I love that he had a variety of custom Stan Skelve's along with his more traditional paintings for the show. Check out more of Travis's work at travislouie.com and follow him at @travislouie.
