About this Medium

Screen printing is a printing technique that uses a woven mesh to support an ink-blocking stencil. The attached stencil forms open areas of mesh that transfer ink or other printable materials which can be pressed through the mesh as a sharp-edged image onto a substrate. A roller or squeegee is moved across the screen stencil, forcing or pumping ink past the threads of the woven mesh in the open areas. Screen printing is also a stencil method of print making in which a design is imposed on a screen of silk or other fine mesh, with blank areas coated with an impermeable substance, and ink is forced through the mesh onto the printing surface. It is also known as silkscreen, seriography, and serigraph. Powerhouse is a multidisciplinary group of artists and designers whose energy and success is rooted in the hands-on process of rock poster design and printing. We started in 2004 as a group of friends making posters for our favorite bands. Fast forward to now, and we are translating that same spirit of collaboration and artistic drive into projects for Fortune 500 companies as well as major music industry clients. With experience in design, fine arts, and the music industry weʼve worked with such diverse clients as Bruce Springsteen, Dalek, and Tide. Powerhouse is more than just a name—we operate as a machine, creating artistic output based on our clients’ needs. Energy and ideas are born out of our unique working space. . . the place where creativity exudes from every project we undertake. Whether itʼs designing promo materials for a major Black Keys tour, or lifestyle marketing and brand strategy for Procter & Gamble, our ultimate goal is to use our artistic passions to transform each and every project into a dynamic, holistic creative solution for our clients.
