My name is Jacob van Loon. I am 26 years old and freelance from Chicago, IL. I graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BFA in illustration. Before my time at Northern, I spent two years studying photography and fine arts at Oakton Community College in Des Plaines, IL, and a year at Waukesha County Technical College for graphic design. I seek inspiration more recently from modern fashion, architecture, and travel.

The most effective means of completing a visual idea lies in both the inquisitive nature of fine art, and the construct of efficient communication established by successful design. Combining methods and media allows me to do this.
My painting combines unrelated concepts under the umbrella of a central point- the exploitation of miniscule observations. Aesthetic components influential to my paintings range from the Russian Constructivism methodology, to historical events that shaped commerce in the Midwestern United States.
