The overarching theme within Richard Boyd-Dunlop’s oeuvre is governed by pollination, an evolving narrative that has occurred organically throughout his career. The repeated geometric shapes overlapping organic forms act as a unifying element throughout his body of work. Employing abstract motifs of nature and hero icons of the bee create a symbiotic interplay between nature and humankind, coming together into its own ecosystem dependent on kaleidoscopic pollination.
This environmental energy is not only present in paintings shown in previous exhibitions successfully hosted both nationally and internationally over the years, but has also been present in large scale projects investigating sculptural forms. Numerous commercial commissions, furniture design, and his Love Ghost project exemplify this exploration.
