DoomCo Designs is the brainchild of Kent Fremon, lifelong Chicagoan, artist, and mechanical engineer. Started in the beginning of 2017, this digital design and physical fabrication company was started to explore the intersections between the theory of objects and the real-life capabilities of manufacturing! Toy Tokyo is a renowned specialty toy store located in New York City’s East Village at 91 Second Avenue, between East 5th and East 6th Streets. Established in 2000 by owner Israel “Lev” Levarek, the store has become a haven for collectors and enthusiasts, offering a diverse selection of toys and collectibles.   The store specializes in a wide range of items, including vintage and contemporary toys, action figures, designer art toys, and pop culture memorabilia. Much of its inventory is imported from Japan and Hong Kong, featuring products related to anime, superheroes, and iconic franchises. Notably, Toy Tokyo offers exclusive items from brands such as KAWS, Funko, Ron English, and Medicom Toy. Astro Boy as an art toy is a designer collectible figure inspired by Osamu Tezuka’s iconic manga and anime character. These art toys typically reimagine Astro Boy in various styles, materials, and sizes, often blending pop culture, street art, and high-end design aesthetics. Self-produced art toys are designer collectibles created and manufactured independently by the artist or small teams without the backing of a large toy company or mass-market brand. These toys are often highly personal, artistic expressions and are usually made in limited runs. Key Characteristics include independent creation where the artist is in control of the entire process from concept, sculpting, and painting to production and packaging. These are usually made in small batches, often 10–100 pieces, which adds to their rarity, made using materials like resin, sofubi (Japanese soft vinyl), or 3D-printed components.
