About this work
Three objects that resemble vintage television sets. Each television set has a distinct illustration on its screen. From left to right, the first television set displays an image of a cat playing a guitar. The middle television set shows a scene with multiple characters, possibly from a comic or cartoon. The third television set on the right depicts an illustration of a skeletal figure holding a flower.Born into the greyness of England at the end of the Seventies, by the age of four Jon-Paul Kaiser knew that what he wanted to do in life was a draw. From that point he rarely strayed from that path; scribbling and doodling his way through School, College and University. After working with Porlzilla, Jon-Paul decided to go it alone concentrating at first on the toy customization scene, building up a name and strong reputation for himself with his stark Black & White custom style, influenced by comic book art, film noir & Ukiyo-e prints. This lead to him being approached by established toy producers for designs for their platform toys. Principally amongst these are Toy2R who have released numerous JPK Platforms. Self-produced art toys are designer collectibles created and manufactured independently by the artist or small teams without the backing of a large toy company or mass-market brand. These toys are often highly personal, artistic expressions and are usually made in limited runs. Key Characteristics include independent creation where the artist is in control of the entire process from concept, sculpting, and painting to production and packaging. These are usually made in small batches, often 10–100 pieces, which adds to their rarity, made using materials like resin, sofubi (Japanese soft vinyl), or 3D-printed components. We Made Awesome Toy!! We focus on making retro style Sofubi ソフビ (Soft Vinyl Toy) that's nostalgic to 60s-70s Japanese toys. Our toys are made in Japan.
