About this Platform
Pucky Baby is part of the Pucky art toy series, created by Pucky, a Hong Kong-based artist known for her dreamy, whimsical, and fairy tale-inspired characters. Pucky’s toys are often released in collaboration with POP MART, a leading designer toy company specializing in blind box collectibles. Pucky Baby figures have a soft, chubby, and childlike appearance, often resembling fantasy creatures, fairies, or magical beings. They feature pastel color palettes, rounded shapes, and delicate details, giving them an ethereal, storybook-like charm. Disney, as a creator of art toys, has played a significant role in merging mainstream pop culture with the designer toy world. While traditionally known for mass-market merchandise, Disney has also ventured into the art toy and collectible vinyl scene, often collaborating with artists and brands to produce limited-edition figures that appeal to both collectors and fans of designer toys. Vinylmation (2008 - 2020) – One of Disney’s most notable art toy lines, featuring blank Mickey Mouse-shaped figures customized with different themes, characters, and designs. Many were designed by Disney artists, while some featured collaborations with external artists. Disney has worked with Medicom Toy on high-end BE@RBRICK and VCD (Vinyl Collectible Dolls) figures, often reimagining classic characters like Mickey, Donald, and Goofy in unique art styles. More recently, Disney has partnered with Pop Mart, a leader in designer blind box figures, to create stylized collectibles inspired by its iconic characters. While Disney primarily operates in the mainstream collectibles space, its influence on the art toy scene has helped bring designer toys to a wider audience, bridging the gap between mass production and artistic expression. With a childhood divided between Hong Kong and Canada, Pucky grew up between two cultures, which prompted her to explore creatively the value of identity and the meaning of belonging. After graduation from Emily Carr University of Art + Design in Vancouver in 2008, she returned to Hong Kong, where she works as a freelance artist and illustrator and created the brand "Pookie". Pucky's work is a combination of cute and dark, showing an integrated harmony where opposites like good and evil or love and fear, co-exist. She is deeply inspired by the wonders and mysteries of the world and her drawings are strongly affected by the beauty of their history, science and the romance. She draws to communicate these feelings in her own visual language. Pop Mart is a Chinese toy company that sells collectible designer toys. The company is known for its "blind box" packaging, which doesn't reveal the toys inside. Pop Mart is a leader in the designer toy market and has been credited with creating the market for designer toys in China.
