Clutter Gallery is a leading contemporary art gallery specializing in the vibrant world of designer toys and lowbrow art. Located in the artistic community of Beacon, New York (home to the world famous Dia museum), Clutter Gallery has established itself as a premier destination for collectors and enthusiasts alike. Since its inception in 2011, the gallery has been dedicated to showcasing the work of both established and emerging artists who push the boundaries of pop culture, street and low-brow art. In addition to its dynamic exhibitions, Clutter Gallery also houses an impressive permanent collection of Designer Toys, curated by the team behind its renowned print publication. This collection serves as a testament to the gallery’s deep-rooted connection to the designer toy movement and its commitment to preserving and celebrating this unique art form. Shigeta Tanaka is a self-taught illustrator and designer renowned for his distinctive contributions to the sofubi (soft vinyl) toy scene. In 2007, he established Goccodo, a creative studio where he began producing original soft vinyl figures that blend nostalgic elements from 1980s and 1990s manga, anime, sports, and subcultures with contemporary design sensibilities. Beyond his original designs, Tanaka has collaborated with numerous brands and artists, contributing to projects involving well-known franchises like Marvel Comics, as well as popular manga series including “Kinnikuman,” “Captain Tsubasa,” and “Fist of the North Star.” His design expertise extends to creating logos and apparel for various entities, including professional wrestling and martial arts organizations. “Monsters from the Island” is a group neo-kaiju and sofubi exhibition curated by Monster Island NYC. THe show ran from March 9th – April 6th. Comprised of artists working primarily in sofubi and resin, those participating include: BLObPUS, Blurble, Bob Conge / Plaseebo, Brian Flynn, Buff Monster, Bwana Spoons, Dski One, Few Many, FigLab, Goccodo, Guumon, Healeymade, Ilanena, Josh Herbolsheimer, Konatsu, L’amour Supreme, Leecifer, Mark Nagata, Mechavirus, Monsterarm, Mutant Vinyl Hardcore, NagNagNag, PaulKaiju, Rampage Toys, Splurt, Star Case, Toys are Sanity, Uamou and Velocitron.
