Brute SkullSkin

Jon Knox is a designer/illustrator/artist based in Portland. He was born and raised in North Carolina, and lived in Perth (Australia) for the better part of 2006. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in graphic design from the College of Design at North Carolina State, but spent his free time screenprinting, drawing, and painting. He lived and developed his work in San Francisco in 2008, then moved to Portland where his studio is currently located. His current work focuses on an all-boy crew who are often stuck somewhere between the best and worst moments of their lives. Jon's work has been exhibited around the globe, including solo exhibitions in Chicago and Seattle. He's best known for his series of hand cast resin toys produced in limited editions. SkullSkin is a 11-inch tall vinyl figure sculpted by Ajee. She was released the 15th of November 2008 in 3 color ways : GREEN 300 ex, DARK 300 ex and GOLD 180 ex. SkullSkin European Tour One year after she’s dressed with a whole new graphic design for a colaboration between Ajee X Pixie. She wears gloves, headband, make-up, transparent skull helmet, dots and flock. The 3 new color ways, France BLUE, England BLACK and Italy PURPLE, are each limited to 60 ex. “The SkullSkin character was born when I was been asked to customize a train for the TagTheSystem ParisStation show in 2005. I had previously been working on the sweet girl and the skull for a long time on canvases but I wouldn’t understand their relationship. For that train project I had to manage with a long format and I wondered where to put the skull, when it was settled on her head to become a helmet. It reminded me of the Donkey Skin fairytale so I instinctively added a fur on her shoulder. She was then wearing a skull skin.”
