About this Artist
Daniel Fleres was born in 1982 in Walnut Creek, CA. As a kid, he was fascinated with saturday morning cartoons, video games, comic book super heroes and the chance to work in the fields that inspired his creativity. After high school, Daniel moved to San Diego to earn an AA in Graphic Design from Platt College. Daniel returned to the bay area after graduating to start a fine art career. The last six years, he has since exhibited and curated art shows all around the world as well as contributed art for published books. Daniel is currently working on his first toy line, “The Swanicorn” to be released later this May and learning to tattoo. Fonzo is a designer art toy created by Venezuelan art collective Burundanga Design in collaboration with Freak Store. Inspired by the French bulldog owned by Freak Store’s proprietors, Fonzo serves as both an art piece and the store’s mascot. The original Fonzo figure stands 6 inches tall and features a stylized French bulldog with a rounded form and expressive features, providing a versatile canvas for artistic customization. The design has also been expanded into a series called “Fonzo & Friends,” introducing characters like Coco, Lucas, and Bertha, further enriching the Fonzo universe. The SHO was created and set up by Emily and Dan as an independent venue, a gallery and a shop. With a vision to bridge the gap between different art forms and open the spectrum of gallery expectations. It fuses together traditional art with contemporary digital design and illustration, fueling a gallery/outlet offering affordable exclusive art and design pieces. A place where local and upcoming artists as well as established international designers working in diverse mediums will be able to exhibit & sell their work in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
