About this Platform

ANATOY is a South Korean art toy platform that uniquely blends anatomical design with storytelling to explore personal and societal complexities. Developed by DanDesign Inc., ANATOY features a series of modular figures, each representing individuals confronting various mental or physical challenges. The platform aims to foster empathy and self-awareness by encouraging users to reflect on and share their own experiences through these customizable toys. At the heart of ANATOY is the idea of “the complex”—the internal struggles and insecurities that people often face. Each figure is designed with an anatomical structure, symbolizing the transparency and vulnerability associated with confronting one’s issues. The toys consist of 12 swappable parts connected via articulated joints, allowing for personalization and expression of individual journeys toward overcoming personal challenges. MP Gautheron is a French artist renowned for her vibrant and intricate paintings, sculptures, and custom art toys. Based in Rennes, France, she has been immersed in art from a young age, influenced by her mother, an art professor and painter. This early exposure led her to pursue formal studies in graphical design and plastic arts in Paris, culminating in a Master’s degree in plastic art/illustration. Gautheron’s artistic universe blends elements of skulls, animals, nature, and intricate patterns. Her work often explores the natural process of death, aiming to help viewers accept it by embellishing and reinterpreting its imagery. She employs a mix of realistic depictions and fantastical configurations to tell stories, frequently using bold colors to infuse life into her subjects.
