Dream in Plastic is a boutique & art gallery in Beacon, NY and online. We specialize in fun! We love art toys, bright colors, photography, showing off artists, making friends, throwing parties and things that smoke and/or have mustaches. Mixed media tends to refer to a work of visual art that combines various traditionally distinct visual art media. For example, a work on canvas that combines paint, ink, and collage could properly be called a "mixed media" work. When creating a painted or photographed work using mixed media it is important to choose the layers carefully and allow enough drying time between the layers to ensure the final work will have integrity. If many different media are used it is equally important to choose a sturdy foundation upon which the different layers are imposed. Many interesting effects can be achieved by using mixed media. Often, found objects are used in conjunction with traditional artist media, such as paints and graphite, to express a meaning in the everyday life. In this manner, many different elements of art become more flexible than with traditional artist media. WIZARDSKULL Is an artist living and working in Brooklyn NY. As a teenager he started skateboarding, and immersed himself in the subculture by designing t-shirts and skateboard graphics, and skateboarding in local shop videos. His artwork has been featured on over 200+ skateboard graphics for companies from Norway, Russia, England, and all over the US and rest of the world. Both he and his art has appeared in numerous skateboard magazines including Thrasher. Adopting the moniker of Wizard Skull and abandoning freelance design work, he began wheat pasting his art all around New York. One of his most often wheat pastes was "Sexy Ronald", a buff version of Ronald McDonald wearing only underwear with fries popping out of them. People began photographing and sharing images of it on social media which led to the image going viral several times and getting bootlegged, then sold on t-shirts in Thailand. This also led to his art being exposed to a larger audience. Dream in Plastic will be holding the 2nd annual custom toy show this January, with an opening reception held January 14, 2011 from 6-9pm. This show is open to anyone, and open to any toy platform!
