About this work
A collection of handcrafted items displayed on a table. The central focus is a white ceramic figurine that appears to be a whimsical character with exaggerated features, including large eyes and a playful expression. The figurine is holding a small green object, which looks like a toy train. Surrounding the figurine are various other handmade items, including small wooden dolls, a green geometric-shaped decoration, and a small potted plant. There are also some wooden tags and a sign that reads "COMING SOON" with additional text below it. The overall setting suggests a craft fair or a market stall showcasing unique, handcrafted goods.Born into the greyness of England at the end of the Seventies, by the age of four Jon-Paul Kaiser knew that what he wanted to do in life was a draw. From that point he rarely strayed from that path; scribbling and doodling his way through School, College and University. After working with Porlzilla, Jon-Paul decided to go it alone concentrating at first on the toy customization scene, building up a name and strong reputation for himself with his stark Black & White custom style, influenced by comic book art, film noir & Ukiyo-e prints. This lead to him being approached by established toy producers for designs for their platform toys. Principally amongst these are Toy2R who have released numerous JPK Platforms. Monster Embryos are Tailored Curiosities first line of fully sculpted, designer toys. Cast from an original sculpt, they are completed with hand painted eyes and umbilical cords. ToyCon UK is the UK’s first ever dedicated designer toy convention. With exhibitors ranging from the UK’s best customisers, retailers and toy producers, the event will create a unique opportunity to meet and interact with the stars in this growing scene. Along with the amazing exhibitors and their incredible ware, there will be talks, question sessions and custom workshops with the biggest and brightest in the UK toy scene and beyond. It is the brainchild of three toy fans who decided it was high time the UK had an event to celebrate the talent of UK Toy Artists
