About this Artist

Andrea Kang has created a fanciful world filled with girls, bears, and little creatures. Her narratives explore nostalgia and the blurred lines that exist between dreams, reality, and memories. After graduating with her Masters from the Rhode Island School of Design she worked for Hasbro Inc. designing toys. Since then she's taught, participated in gallery exhibitions and dedicated her time to freelance illustration and product design work. She also started a design collective with illustrator Nathan Jurevicius under the moniker 'Harley & Boss.' The Momiji story began just over 6 years ago. Back in 2005 we created our first collection of 12 Momiji dolls…life before that date now seems to be a bit of a hazy memory and since then our days (and occasionally our nights) have become devoted to these little dolls. Momiji HQ is a little office in Henley in Arden. It's a small village in Warwickshire, England, famous for its legendary ice cream. Maybe one day it will be famous for Momiji too. From our tiny office we’ve become truly global. We've got designers creating lovely stuff all over the place (United Kingdom, Austria, Malaysia, Australia, Chile, Thailand, Germany, Canada, Slovenia to name but a few...) Momiji is inspired by friendship and little kindnesses. It's about filling life with memories and messages. The dolls are never around for very long and we’re launching new ones all the time. We know a few people are having a go at collecting them all, which is quite a challenge! The dolls are broken down into little collections which make it easier to collect them in groups. First of all, there are the core collections; this is where it all began. The Randoms dolls were our first ever Momiji Dolls are collectible art toys known for their charming, hand-painted designs and hidden message compartments. Originating from the UK, these small resin figurines are inspired by Japanese Kokeshi dolls and feature a distinctive, whimsical aesthetic. Each Momiji Doll typically portrays a unique character with themes ranging from friendship and celebration to fantasy and seasonal motifs. One of their signature features is a tiny slot at the base where collectors can insert a small, rolled-up message, making them popular as heartfelt gifts. The designs are often created by various artists, resulting in a diverse range of styles while maintaining the brand’s signature look—rounded forms, expressive eyes, and vibrant colors. Helena Štamulak is the Head of Creative at Momiji, a company renowned for its collectible dolls. Hailing from Ljubljana, Slovenia, she has been instrumental in shaping the brand’s artistic direction since officially joining the team in 2010. Helena’s journey with Momiji began in 2009 when she designed her first doll for a competition, sparking an immediate connection with the brand. In her role, she oversees the entire creative process, from conceptualizing and designing dolls and packaging to constructing photo sets and crafting various visual materials.
