About this Platform

Molly is a designer toy character created by Hong Kong-based artist Kenny Wong. She is a distinctive figure in the world of collectible art toys, known for her big, expressive eyes, pouty lips, and signature short bob hairstyle. Often depicted wearing stylish outfits or costumes, Molly has a slightly aloof yet curious expression, which adds to her charm. Kenny Wong introduced Molly through his collaboration with Pop Mart, a leading designer toy company. Over time, Molly has appeared in various themed collections, such as Molly in Wonderland, Circus Molly, and Zodiac Molly, among others. The character’s popularity has led to limited-edition releases, blind box series, and even collaborations with major brands. With a childhood divided between Hong Kong and Canada, Pucky grew up between two cultures, which prompted her to explore creatively the value of identity and the meaning of belonging. After graduation from Emily Carr University of Art + Design in Vancouver in 2008, she returned to Hong Kong, where she works as a freelance artist and illustrator and created the brand "Pookie". Pucky's work is a combination of cute and dark, showing an integrated harmony where opposites like good and evil or love and fear, co-exist. She is deeply inspired by the wonders and mysteries of the world and her drawings are strongly affected by the beauty of their history, science and the romance. She draws to communicate these feelings in her own visual language. Self-produced art toys are designer collectibles created and manufactured independently by the artist or small teams without the backing of a large toy company or mass-market brand. These toys are often highly personal, artistic expressions and are usually made in limited runs. Key Characteristics include independent creation where the artist is in control of the entire process from concept, sculpting, and painting to production and packaging. These are usually made in small batches, often 10–100 pieces, which adds to their rarity, made using materials like resin, sofubi (Japanese soft vinyl), or 3D-printed components. Kenny Wong is a Hong Kong-based designer, illustrator, and toy artist best known for creating Molly, one of the most iconic characters in the designer toy scene. His work blends elements of nostalgia, fashion, and whimsy, often featuring doll-like figures with oversized eyes and expressive, melancholic expressions. His Most Famous Character – Molly is a little girl with a signature pout, large round eyes, and a curious attitude. She was inspired by a real child Wong met at an art exhibition. Wong’s Molly blind box series, produced in partnership with POP MART, has become one of the most successful collectible toy lines, featuring countless themed variations of the character. Beyond Molly, Wong has designed other characters and art toys, often released in limited-edition vinyl and sofubi formats. He has collaborated with brands like Disney, Coca-Cola, and Medicom Toy, as well as artists in the global designer toy community. Kenny Wong’s work has become a cornerstone of Asian designer toys, appealing to art collectors, fashion lovers, and toy enthusiasts who appreciate high-quality craftsmanship and unique storytelling in collectible form.
