While not an art toy brand, its influence has helped mainstream vinyl figure Reis O’Brien is a prominent figure in the toy design industry, renowned for his significant contributions to collectible vinyl figures. With over a decade of experience, he has established himself as a creative director and artist with a deep passion for pop culture and collectibles. O’Brien’s journey in the toy industry began when he collaborated with Funko’s founder, Mike Becker, on a side project related to a clothing line. This partnership led to his recruitment into Funko’s design team, where he played a pivotal role in creating and developing various products, including the widely acclaimed Pop! Vinyl figures. In 2013, demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit, O’Brien founded his own toy company, Bimtoy. Under this brand, he introduced the “Tiny Ghost” figure, a collectible that has garnered a dedicated following for its unique design and charm. As of 2024, O’Brien has taken on the role of Creative Director at Handmade by Robots, continuing to shape the landscape of collectible toys with his innovative designs and deep understanding of the collector community.
