NOSTALGIE BASTARD #3

Item Details

About this Event

We are very happy to announce that Ayako Takagi returns to Art Gallery Yamanekoken for a collaboration exhibition with painter and artist Mai Nagamoto. “Nostalgie”, as the title implies, exhibits painted works and customised figures that were born from a sense of nostalgia and the location for this exhibition could not be any more fitting. It might be a tiny bit remote from the center of Tokyo but the trip to Yamanekoken is more than worth it since it is a charming gallery located deep in the Mountain forest of Ogose, Saitama. Truly a place where one could take a break from the busy city life and take a moment to contemplate. Keep an eye on these pages as we will slowly introduce more work that will be featured on the exhibition. NEW CHARACTER RELEASE: BASTARD ! ! As much as Uamou is a pure hearted alien boy, Bastard is a foul-mouthed, bratty little kid who talks behind everybody’s back and is just incredibly unpleasant to have on your pic-nic. We don’t think he is bad though, probably he is just asking for attention. The character Bastard has been featured for many years on different designs and drawings by Ayako Takagi and has been one of the main characters in the Uamou universe. We are very glad to announce that the Bastard vinyl toy will be a regular item in our assortment and we hope it will find a home wherever Uamou already has found one. The first release of Bastard will consist out of two versions. The all white unpainted character will be sold for 1800 yen each and the all white character with painted mouth will be sold for 2000 yen each. Ayako Takagi’s goal is to expand the world of UAMOU through picture books, figures, animation and jewellery, bridging the gap between the character movement and art/design. From a young age she was greatly influenced by her parents who were both jewellers. Growing up in a creative environment, Ayako had always been interested in drawing and making things. Whilst studying in London she started making and selling UAMOU products throughout Europe. After graduating from Camberwell College of Arts she moved back to Japan where she is working as an artist and designer on the international stage.
