MADL is a designer art toy platform created by Jeremy “MAD” Madl, one of the pioneers of the urban vinyl toy movement. First released in 2002, MADL figures are known for their bold, blocky shape, clean lines, and graffiti-inspired aesthetics. They were among the first American-designed vinyl toys to gain popularity, bridging the gap between street art, hip-hop culture, and designer collectibles. The MAD*L figure typically has a distinctive angular form with a broad head and a compact body, providing a great canvas for artists to customize. Over the years, the platform has featured numerous limited-edition releases, artist collaborations, and hand-painted customs, making it a highly sought-after collectible in the art toy scene. Established in 2001, SquarefrogDesigns orginally began life as the online personna of multimedia artist and designer Matthew Bryan. As time went on it grew to become the design name of all work created by Matthew Bryan, within the art world and the commercial graphic design world, no matter what the project, client, or media. Today SquarefrogDesigns is split into 2 halves, on the one side is art; the personal work and style of Matthew Bryan, spanning a wide variety of medias. On the other side is commercial graphic design, no matter what the design project may be. At present, these two realities of mine do not seem to clash and are very different from each other, graphic design clients tend not to be aware of the art side of things, and vice versa.
