Mixed media tends to refer to a work of visual art that combines various traditionally distinct visual art media. For example, a work on canvas that combines paint, ink, and collage could properly be called a "mixed media" work. When creating a painted or photographed work using mixed media it is important to choose the layers carefully and allow enough drying time between the layers to ensure the final work will have integrity. If many different media are used it is equally important to choose a sturdy foundation upon which the different layers are imposed. Many interesting effects can be achieved by using mixed media. Often, found objects are used in conjunction with traditional artist media, such as paints and graphite, to express a meaning in the everyday life. In this manner, many different elements of art become more flexible than with traditional artist media. Toy Art Gallery is proud to present “FEMINAMORPHE” featuring Candie Bolton, Helen Vine, Okokume, Tasha Zimich, Teresa Chiba and Uamou. Feminamorphe’s six female artists bring a unique perspective to the toy art form, mixing beauty and cuteness with a dark thread of surreality. The show features original drawings, paintings, and prints along with custom toys and exclusive editions. Tasha (Natasha) Zimich is a Canadian painter, illustrator, and custom toy artist based in Vancouver. Her work is celebrated for its fusion of whimsy and darkness, often exploring themes that balance the cute with the creepy, and humor with horror. Her creations often delve into natural and organic motifs, featuring charming yet striking characters that evoke visceral experiences. Her art navigates the spaces between contrasting elements, creating pieces that are both enchanting and unsettling . The Toy Art Gallery is the first gallery of its kind to showcase and consult on high-end art toys and sculptures. Our goal is to showcase exciting, original, and new artists who use figurative sculpture as their primary medium of expression. We also focus on showing, collecting, and producing high end, limited edition, custom, and life-size toy sculptures. Our showroom and gallery is located in Hollywood, California. One of our specialties is to provide availability on rare and desirable toys, life-size figures, bronze sculptures, and one-of-a-kind custom figures created by some of the leading artists/toy designers from around the world. We also have an incredible selection of aftermarket fine art originals and prints created by the leading pop surrealist and low brow artists working today.
