About this Artist
Sergio Mora, also known as MAGICOMORA, is an artist whose work defies conventions and transcends the boundaries between high and low culture. Born in Barcelona in 1975, Mora has created a distinctive visual universe, filled with references to surrealism, pop art, and popular culture, yet always imbued with a unique magic that is entirely his own. From the beginning, Mora showed an inclination for the fantastic and the dreamlike. His early works reveal a fascination with myths and legends, elements that have endured and evolved in his work over the years. Mora’s training at the Escola LLotja in Barcelona provided him with a solid foundation in the plastic arts, but it was his personal vision and unmistakable style that truly set him apart in the contemporary art scene. Swab Barcelona, International Contemporary Art Fair presents the new edition of Swab Toyz by FLS. The proposal is build on the idea of delivering white 8 ” Bunny Qee s to designers and artists that will make your own version of this toy. Some of these customized Toys can be seen during the month of June in La Comercial, located in the Born. The Toys will be auctioned during the month of June. 100% of the benefits from the sale of Toys will go to the Foundation Fighting Against AIDS (FLS) under the direction of Dr. Bonaventura Clotet, a non-profit organization that aims to care, research and teach in the field of AIDS. Thanks to the collaboration of Sotheby’s, have been presented a live auction on June 19th in The Palauet, where a selection of 20 Toys were auctioned. The rest of Toys will be auctioned online between 20 and 30 June in the online store. This initiative is curated by Juan Redon and counts on the collaboration of Lapolab that has given for free all the white 8 ” Bunny Qee s to be customized. Qee Bear is a designer toy created by Toy2R, a Hong Kong-based company founded by Raymond Choy. It is part of the Qee (pronounced “key”) series, a line of customizable, anthropomorphic figures that became a major influence in the global designer toy movement. Qee Bears have a rounded head, stubby limbs, and a signature “Q” shaped keychain attachment, allowing them to be used as collectibles or keychains. Like BE@RBRICK, Qee Bears come in DIY (Do-It-Yourself) blank versions, allowing artists and collectors to customize their own designs. Available in multiple sizes, typically 2.5-inch mini Qees, 8-inch medium Qees, and larger collector editions. Toy2R has worked with international designers, brands, and pop culture franchises, including collaborations with Tokidoki, Michael Lau, Adidas, and even Star Wars. Qee Bears were one of the earliest urban vinyl collectibles to gain international recognition in the early 2000s, helping establish the designer toy movement alongside figures like Dunny (Kidrobot) and BE@RBRICK (Medicom Toy). Though they’ve been somewhat overshadowed by newer toy trends, Qee remains an iconic piece of designer toy history.
