About this Event

A Collaborative Drawing Project by Travis Millard & Michael Sieben. In 2005, Travis Millard & Michael Sieben became friends via the US Post Office. The two of them mailed drawings back and forth, working on them collaboratively and ultimately creating a zine titled "Hitten Switches" which was published by Volcom in 2006. Ten years later, they decided to revisit this concept, each of them starting ten drawings which were mailed out and finished by the recipient. Michael Sieben received his BFA in Studio Art from the University of Texas at Austin in 1999. He was one of four founding members of Camp Fig Gallery (2002-2006) and is a founding member of Okay Mountain Gallery (2006-Present.) His work has been shown throughout the United States as well as Japan, London, Mexico, and Peru. Michael works as a professional illustrator and designer primarily within the subculture of skateboarding and has been a staff writer and illustrator for Thrasher Magazine since 2004. In 2008 he and his friend Stacy Lowery launched their own skateboard brand, Roger Skateboards. Gingko Press in association with Upper Playground recently published a 96 page book of his artwork titled: There's Nothing Wrong With You (Hopefully.) Michael currently lives and works in South Austin in a red brick house with his wife Allison, their two cats, and 5 raccoons in the backyard Rotofugi Designer Toy Store & Gallery, established in July 2004, is located on the border of Chicago's Lincoln Park and Lakeview neighborhoods in a beautiful vintage building. Since opening, Rotofugi has grown to become one of the world's premier sellers of designer toys from artists all over the world. Rotofugi features a diverse selection of vinyl figures, capsule toys, plush and more from both eastern and western designers. The adjoining Rotofugi Gallery features monthly art exhibits by a range of both local and nationally known artists. Beginning in late 2007 Rotofugi partnered with Chicago based product development specialist Squibbles Ink to begin producing artist-designed figures by the talented designers located in their home town. Click here for more information on Squibbles Ink + Rotofugi projects. Rotofugi is owned and operated by husband and wife duo Kirby and Whitney Kerr. You can find the couple in and around the store on most days. They love to talk about toys and art. Use of liquid ink as a material to create art, typically by applying it to a surface like paper with a pen or brush, allowing artists to produce drawings, paintings, or calligraphy by utilizing its fluidity and color properties to form images or text; essentially, it's a versatile tool for creating artwork through the application of colored liquid
