About this Platform

MADL is a designer art toy platform created by Jeremy “MAD” Madl, one of the pioneers of the urban vinyl toy movement. First released in 2002, MADL figures are known for their bold, blocky shape, clean lines, and graffiti-inspired aesthetics. They were among the first American-designed vinyl toys to gain popularity, bridging the gap between street art, hip-hop culture, and designer collectibles. The MAD*L figure typically has a distinctive angular form with a broad head and a compact body, providing a great canvas for artists to customize. Over the years, the platform has featured numerous limited-edition releases, artist collaborations, and hand-painted customs, making it a highly sought-after collectible in the art toy scene. Several sponsors jumped on board as well. The obvious connection with Dallas KidRobot affiliate ATAMA made them a perfect fit and they had a pop-up shop at the show. San Antonio based family business Bean Pot Toiz supplied artists with blanks at cost to give them a large selection of toys to customize as well as manned the ultra cool toy lounge pop-up shop at the show. Local favorite comic book store Lone Star Comics Plano sent along a gift basket to raffle. Austin distillery Deep Eddy Sweet Tea Vodka provided adult beverages. Additional beverages were provided by vitaminwater and Red Bull. Location-based review giant Yelp promoted the show to their subscribers. Finally, Aaron Brothers Art and Framing contributed supplies to all of the artists. The sponsorships with vitaminwater and Yelp were unique. Both of those companies had their own customs at the show. Yelp gave away their custom by artist Motorbot to one of their subscribers. Two customs were created for vitaminwater: one each from Cody Phillips (MacIX) and Dylan Bradway. One to give away at the show and one that the company kept. DJ Fishr Pryce, winner of the recent Dallas Red Bull Thre3style competition was spinning tunes throughout the Ever since he held his first crayon, Scott Kinnebrew has attempted to manifest the things only seen in his mind. After spending years working strictly in the digital medium on projects ranging from movie and music posters, album covers, and digital video content, the need to create physical works resurfaced. After a 10 year break, Kinnebrew now finds himself working with acrylics, brushes, markers and spray paint on surfaces like canvas, plastic, wood, shoes and vinyl toys. Bright colors, bold lines and the motivation from the things around him make up the majority of his works, those of which were most recently displayed at the Sweden Meets Austin : Music Meets Art show at SXSW 2011. "If it can be used to create Ill give it a try, and thats what attracted me to not only canvas but urban vinyl as well." says Kinnebrew,"I create for me, so my main focus is fun. If Im not having fun creating, Im not doing it right." An avid toy collector, and fan of franchises like Star Wars, Flash Gordon, Spawn, The Maxx, Akira, the inspiration has always close at hand. "I wouldn't say I have a style per say, but more of
