Your Top 5 favorite Artists and Why?

I'm a little bit bored today...started thinking, who are my top 5 favorite artists... I've decided to limit my list to Art Toy producers (otherwise it be full of Dali, Chagall, and such).

  • Ron English is my favorite overall due to consistency in his work style, the sometimes subtlety of a piece, or the outright attack on a classic image.
  • Ashley Wood is almost tied for first place in my mind. All his work is his. Nothing is derivative. His comic art reignited my passion for the medium along with Ben Templesmith. Any time you see something he did you know it.
  • Andrew Bell (It's a surprise to me too!) His O-no series has just hooked me.
  • Frank Kozik. He should be #3, but the O-No Sashimi is a meme that won't die in my head (It's like cancer). I love his ultraviolence line! Amazing...Edgy. He is sometimes hit or miss. definitely too many colorways.  But he gets me.
  • Luke Chueh... I like a lot of his work but my opinion might change.

Now, I'm wondering... whats your list (if you do top ten's that works too)?

In no particular order:

Seonna Hong, Anna Chambers, Catalina Estrada, & Camilla D'errico are also some of my favorites who I wish would design more toys!

Ooh that's hard but in designer toys I'd have to say:

Hmm and in art posters I'd most likely have to say:

I guess cuz I like artists that stand out from the crowd; where you instantly know without a doubt when you look at a figure or print by them it's unmistakably by them and no one else as their style is so individualistic, personal and recognisable. I find it hard to describe, but that's my best shot. How do I do the links to the names like you guys did though?

Easily_Amused I like your sense of style! almost 12 years ago

Judging by my collection of toys & prints it would probably break down like this:

  • Huck Gee dominates my toy collection, from his 8" figures down to his Gold Life series I love his work. Though for some reason I don't really like his prints as much. Not sure why.
  • Tyler Stout is all over my house. Thankfully I was buying his prints years back before he got more known and I have some great pieces, including one of my favorites his 'Spaced' print.
  • Jeff Soto is another one where I was lucky enough to grab a few of his prints like 'Scrap Yard Power Droid' and 'Eddie Vedder - Providence, RI' prints, but I'm a really big fan of his Seekers which I was really surprised didn't sell out immediately. Someday I hope to get an original painting ... someday.
  • Jeremy Fish is a guy I wish would make more toys. The prints he makes I love but generally miss out our can't afford.
  • Olly Moss is one of those artists I've like for a while but only recently managed to score some of his work. Generally though I miss out, but I also have little wall space left to hang anymore prints ... so maybe it's a good thing.

Easily_Amused LOL! Nah you need more than you can hang at anyone time so you can rotate and keep the images fresh. about 12 years ago

Oh yeah and I almost totally forgot, I'd also have to add on my list these artists working in both print and vinyl. And like mahsitti said earlier, in no particuar order...

  • Arik Roper I would also have to say now as his work reminds me of illustration legends such as Frank Frazetta, Roger Dean and Rodney Matthews...

Mine are:

  • Andrew Bell: I started collecting thanks to his Android Collectibles, also love the Zliks... If anyone has a Sepia or a GID set to sell it will be greatly appreciated.
  • Gary Ham: Love his work some pieces very cute and some of his oldes pieces very naughty.
  • Squink: Love his customs, he does a nice job on all of them.
  • Joe Ledbetter: His bunnies!
  • The Beast Brothers: They do a great job representing the mexican culture.
