Tristan Eaton, JC Rivera, Kevin Tong and Joe Ledbetter
Updating 'Featured Artists' is going to be a regular thing every Friday going forward along with my a #ff on twitter. 2012 will also mark a major increase in news offerings including release info, reviews, shows, interviews and we'll even toss in a few opinion pieces when we have some time. As the library continues to grow we hope this will be a nice way to call out some lesser know but amazing artists. Anyway, on to our featured artists:
Hopefully everyone has already seen Tristan's CNN piece last week (here if you missed it), and if you're on this site you definitely know a few of the things he's created. The man responsible for the Munny and Dunny has been all over the place this year curating a 3d Art Book and producing his latest creation the B-Bot with Plastic City which is based off his popular iPhone app. You can check out more of Tristan's work at thunderdogstudios.com and follow him on twitter @thunderdogstudios.
I had a chance to meet JC Rivera at NYCC, and my wife made a nice pick-up scoring one of his custom mini qee's. He just put out a new series called The Dead Kings two days ago, and as I'm writing this there are only one or two left at his store. You can check out more of JC's work at artbyjcrivera.com and follow him on twitter @jcrivera.
Before creating this site I wasn't familiar with his work, but thankfully I've been seeing his work pop-up quite a bit lately. His Once Upon A Time series being produced by Mondo has been pretty tight, but I think the pieces from his two man show Introducing: Kevin Tong & John Vogl had some amazing pieces. Some of which are still available here. You can check out more of Kevin's work at tragicsunshine.com and follow him on twitter @tragicsunshine.
So, everyone knows Joe and if you don't you better educate yourself fast. The man seems to crank out so much work I think he might possibly be a cyborg. Either way, not only does the man create, toys like these Chinese Zodiac, but the sheer volume of paintings he produces is just mind boggling. Currently there are about 94 pieces of his under 'original art' but I think those were only from 2011 and maybe some of 2010. I would have put more in but I got carpal tunnel. Just browse around his portfolio and be amazed at what he's produced. You can check out more of Joe's work at joeledbetter.com and follow him on twitter @joeledbetter.
