A sculpture that appears to be a stylized representation of a crescent moon with a face. The face has closed eyes and a serene expression. The sculpture is predominantly white and has intricate details, including what seems to be tattoo-like patterns on its body.Born into the greyness of England at the end of the Seventies, by the age of four Jon-Paul Kaiser knew that what he wanted to do in life was a draw. From that point he rarely strayed from that path; scribbling and doodling his way through School, College and University. After working with Porlzilla, Jon-Paul decided to go it alone concentrating at first on the toy customization scene, building up a name and strong reputation for himself with his stark Black & White custom style, influenced by comic book art, film noir & Ukiyo-e prints. This lead to him being approached by established toy producers for designs for their platform toys. Principally amongst these are Toy2R who have released numerous JPK Platforms. "Reveries" sees a new chapter in the artists work. Using only his own sculptures and figures, he explores the theme of nostalgia; presented by surreal characters and scenes, each depicting as well as subverting classic art tropes. Influences on this selection of work includes history, fine art and colonialism, as well as looking at identity. Resin casting is a method of plastic casting where a mold is filled with a liquid synthetic resin, which then hardens. It is primarily used for small-scale production like industrial prototypes and dentistry. It can be done by amateur hobbyists with little initial investment, and has been appropriated for the production of collectible toys, models and figures, as well as small-scale jewelry production. The synthetic resin for such processes is a monomer for making a plastic thermosetting polymer. During the setting process, the liquid monomer polymerizes into the polymer, thereby hardening into a solid.
