About this work

A vibrant and intricate scene that appears to be inspired by traditional East Asian art. It features several characters and mythical creatures set against a backdrop of nature. At the top, there's a large, ornate peacock with its feathers spread out, showcasing intricate patterns. Below the peacock, there are three female figures dressed in traditional attire, each holding a lantern. They seem to be in a serene and harmonious state, possibly representing grace and elegance. In the foreground, there are two mythical creatures. One appears to be a blue, serpent-like creature with multiple arms, while the other is a large, dark creature with a white face, possibly a bull or an ox, which is often associated with strength and labor in many cultures. The background features a flowing river or stream, surrounded by mountains and a sky with clouds. The entire scene is adorned with floral designs, particularly cherry blossoms, adding to the aesthetic appeal and suggesting themes of beauty, transience, and nature.Born into the greyness of England at the end of the Seventies, by the age of four Jon-Paul Kaiser knew that what he wanted to do in life was a draw. From that point he rarely strayed from that path; scribbling and doodling his way through School, College and University. After working with Porlzilla, Jon-Paul decided to go it alone concentrating at first on the toy customization scene, building up a name and strong reputation for himself with his stark Black & White custom style, influenced by comic book art, film noir & Ukiyo-e prints. This lead to him being approached by established toy producers for designs for their platform toys. Principally amongst these are Toy2R who have released numerous JPK Platforms. "Reveries" sees a new chapter in the artists work. Using only his own sculptures and figures, he explores the theme of nostalgia; presented by surreal characters and scenes, each depicting as well as subverting classic art tropes. Influences on this selection of work includes history, fine art and colonialism, as well as looking at identity. Acrylic paint is fast drying paint containing pigment suspension in acrylic polymer emulsion. Acrylic paints can be diluted with water, but become water-resistant when dry. Depending on how much the paint is diluted (with water) or modified with acrylic gels, media, or pastes, the finished acrylic painting can resemble a watercolor or an oil painting, or have its own unique characteristics not attainable with other media.
