We are excited to welcome back New Zealand artist Askew as he has returned with his latest print Thunderclap Headache, in addition Askew has also brought 1xRUN collectors an exclusive sampling of original artwork from his recent ONEFIFTY series. Widely regarded as one of the New Zealand graffiti scene’s driving forces, Askew has managed to remain at the forefront of the movement (both in New Zealand and throughout the world) whilst working tirelessly behind the scenes in a diverse array of projects. Askew’s indoor canvas works are influenced by double exposure photography, bold illustrative lines reflective of comic books and the graphic power of the letter. This is also seen in his public mural works in which his attraction to ‘bigger is better’ is highly precedent.
Compiling his anatomic knowledge with sliced cross sections, x-ray peek-ins and detailed dissections “I’d Like To Meat You!” will be a colorful exploration of new works on paper, canvas and wood highlighting Nychos’ skilled range across graffiti, illustration and street art. In 2012 Nychos made his first visit to Detroit and collaborated with Flying Fortress on a large mural titled “Jukebox Cowboys” in Eastern Market where a dissected Jukebox adorns the side of a building on Orleans Street. It was an experience that stuck with Nychos, as one year later he has returned to Detroit to create his latest body of work influenced by the historic meatpacking and produce hub.
We are excited to welcome back two of our favorite Detroit artists Malt and Tead as they have brought us their first collaborative print All Night Satellites . Along with the 37 x 37 inch original painting, we also have a selection of smaller originals available from both Malt and Tead. "Malt and I have known each other for years. I knew him for a few years before he wrote Malt when I was just getting into graff and what not. One day randomly, one of our friends told me my dude was Malt, I didn't believe it for a minute. I was blown away that Malt already knew I wrote. I was this little kid just trying to be down. I basically exiled myself from the rest of the world, ditched anyone who didn't paint. Blew off my girlfriend and just went in. Didn't rest and didn't sleep. I was seeking something I didn't even know. Just painting non-stop." - Tead
